HI from a Green Bay Noob

Hammock camping was suggested by the scoutmaster of my son's troop. I started looking at the literal pletora of stuff on the web... gotta say I love the Shug Emery vids, all of them, that guy is a hoot! So I am starting completely from scratch... so.... where do I start?

I orginally told Mrs. Bandjoe that I wanted a Clark 250, but she bulked at the price, so I kept looking.... This what I am thinking now: WBBB XLC 1.9 double, would love Shugs winter tarp with doors, anyone make something like that? Lots of other things to consider??? What do I do first?

Thanks in advance as I have read some of the posts,
    Joe

Glad that you found the forum...

Now we just have to get you in a hammock...don't worry, we'll get that done, then the Rocking Chair patrol will have 2 members, plus Brent. Maybe we should make Brent an honorary member?

Mrs. Bandjoe may have said no, but I gotcher hook-up!

Welcome to the forums from SC. I recommend going to a group hang and checking out different kinds of hammocks. What is best for you is determined by your size, budget, features you need (integrated bugnet or not), if you are hiking a distance and need lightweight, etc. Lots of info. here to sort through. Sounds like you have a friend that is willing to help you out.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

Welcome from a Suamico Hanger. Been hanging for over a year through warm and cold, wet and snow. I LOVE hammock camping and really have no plans to go to ground again.

Many of my Webelos are interested in or already making their own hammocks.

    Hope to see you 'round.

    Join Our Spring Hang

    Welcome!

Get your hammock and join our Spring hang in Vilas County the weekend of May 10-12. Look under Midwest trips and plans for updates. Still haven't decided on a final location yet.

Re: HI from a Green Bay Noob

Welcome to the insanity... It's a slippery slope your on... But one that's a blast...

I recommend a group hang if you can, you will see so much gear and for the most part people are cool with you checking out their hammock and test driving it... Might give them a heads up your coming and someone will bring an assortment... We all end up with multiples by the end of this... I have 3 and my daughter has one now so there is 4 hammocks in a house of 3, still can't get Mrs Brute in the air...

The Warbonnet Superfly is one of the most popular tarps around that has doors... I have one and love mine, also one of the best $ to coverage deals out there...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

    Buy, Try, Learn, Repeat
