    Unhappy XLC... Hmmm.

I lie here in my XLC's maiden voyage, pretty disappointed. Netting tore at the food end toggle the very first time I lied down in it. Now the zipper is blown out on the footbox side too. Netting is hanging right in my face. I can only offer my word and reputation as being careful with gear that I did nothing inappropriately rough or abrupt. It is reasonably comfortable, but unless I can work some things out, I think it'll be going back. Maybe I built it up in my mind too much. It was a long day of BSA training and all I wanted to was to fall in love with my new gear, but it's been a less-than-perfect first date to say the least.

Man that is just not right!!! Sorry to hear about the bad 1st date-but it usually turns out to be the best for us in the long run. Looking forward to your more sautious review of circumstances and hammock experience.

Well that certainly sucks. Shoot Brandon an email, I'm sure he would want to make it right.

    Brandon will make it right..
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

    Red face

this is very disconcerting and makes me regret my decision to go with the XLC for my first hammock. it is a big chunk of money to spend on something i need to be extra careful with and the wrong move could tear the net or pop an easy to stress zipper.

i was hoping to hear of nothing but great experiences with the XLC but so far it seems the 11' length is the only real gain over a regular BB.

    Here's hoping for an 11' non-XLC.

This is the first anyone has said anything happening to this hammock. Don't think Brandon didn't have testing time on this design, the guy doesn't put anything out he doesn't trust. My guess is there is more to it than "I laid in the hammock and the netting ripped"...

I am a huge fan of WB products and Brandon. Nothing but good things to say. And love when new gear is introduced. When I saw the XLC, the first thing I thought of was 'all that netting to rip' but I know for sure that Brandon is certainly the type to test, test, re-test and then test again before releasing something.

I don't think you have much to worry about. As others have said, this is the first mentioned case. Quality assurance can never be 100% - and Brandon stands behind his work and fixes any problems. You should be very happy with your XLC!

Bill, I'm sorry you had that experience. I have a BB and have been considering picking up an XLC. Please keep us posted about the resolution of your issue, including whether you give the XLC another try and, if so, how that works out for you. Good luck!
