A short trip along The Jurrasic Coast. UK

    Hi!

I had planned a longer trip across Dartmoor last week but the snow warnings put that on hold. I still wanted to get out in my new hammock so I took a shorter hike along the coast near by. I hope you like the pictures.

I started in Budleigh Salterton and headed east along the Jurrasic Coast and camped just outside Sidbury.

It was a typical British weather day and experienced all the seasons at once and after some hail, had a clear frosty night.

This was my first time using the hammock and I actually couldn't get very comfortable most of the night, if there is something glaringly obvious with my set up or you have any advice on using the Backpacker Ultralight, please let me know!

Also if anyone is in the South West in the near future and fancys a hang, let me know.

Those are some beautiful scenery shots - Makes me a little green for where i live!! As for the HH, I tended to follow a lttle of the WBBB advice and hang my foot end up a little higher than the head. As well, I tended to have the ridgline looser than normal to give it a softer feel.

It's easy to take for granted what is on your doorstep!

The rhododendrons can actually become a problem in the UK. I think it costs some land owners a small fortune to cull them as an invasive species

Thanks for the pics, and welcome to the forum.
I've not been as lucky to see a blue sky like that in the UK before..

Sorry to hear you coudnt get comfortable on your first hang... Took me a bit of fiddling as well to fine tune my hang.

Im not an expert on Hennesy Hammocks, but perhaps as dragon360 said, try loosening your suspension a little and go for a 20-30 degree hang? (keeping the hammock height off the ground the same, but treestraps higher up the trees) Not sure how this will work out for the bugnet sag..
Also, we're you sleeping in it diagonally? And what kind of insulation did you have?

Beautiful scenery. Thanks for that. First hangs are for tuning your set up time, your suspension, your lay, your insulation, etc.... Never the best night's sleep, but still better than the stiffness that comes with sleeping on the ground. Try dragon360's advice and get your feet higher than your head (that was my first hang issue). Good luck getting everything nailed down!
