    First multiday winter hang.

Finally got out for a three day trip with some friends!! It rained and snowed and sleeted all three days with very little time actually spent dry. So in short, it was awesome!!! I had some previous overnighters under my belt so felt pretty confident in my system (thanks to all the info I got from you guys!!) and I wasn't let down...

Backyard testing of my system and pre trip shakedown!

It was a relatively short hike in but it was down a looooong hill that was just plain steep no matter how you sliced it. Part of the trip agenda involved some target practice so I was also humping firearms and ammo along with my backpacking gear. It was quite slippery going down but my trekking poles proved themselves.. I had never used them before but after hearing all the wonderful things you guys and others had to say about them I thought I'd try them out. All I can say is thank goodness I did!!! I'll never hike without them again!!! I did lose one of my tip protectors to the mud though... Oh wells!!

Temps only got down to around 25F so it wasn't anything too brutal. I was well within the ratings of my HammockGear top and underquilts and slept warm and toasty each night out.

    Now moar pics!!!

Ice on my tarp!!! How cool!!!

    My water source...

My own "Breakfast from the hammock" Shug style baby!!!

    Things I learned:
    1. My pack was way too heavy... I've since cut out a lot of stuff that I didn't use or could find lighter ways to get the same result.
    2. Nothing beats getting back into a warm comfy hammock after answering nature's call at 4am, except...
    3. When you're having breakfast from the hammock
    4. There's more but I can't think of them at the moment haha

All in all it was a great trip and I think winter has officially become my favorite season for hammock camping!! If anyone sees any glaring errors or has any input I'd love to hear it!! I wouldn't be where I am without you guys!!!

    Thanks for coming along!!

You don't need no stinking tip protector
Besides they weigh almost 2 ounces each
    Looks like fun!

Looks like a memorable trip to me... Nothing like the first long solo...

Hey, I think I recognize your pack in this pic . . . looks just like mine that came with a hydration system. I use mine for lightweight overnighters, but more often than not, as my primary geocaching bag when I'm out searching . . .

    Question

Looks like a great trip !
I am guessing your firearms were hand guns ? If not and you we toting a rifle how did you deal with it to keep it out of the weather. That is just somthing I have though of, keeping them safe from weather and 2 legged critters.
Looks like a nice sight to spend time.

    First multiday winter hang.

Looks like an amazing outing!! Since you were out for a few days, how was the condensation for your down? I've only been on overnighters in the winter time since getting off the ground, but I've gotten a ton of condensation on those one night flings. I have the same tq and uq as you. Did your down dry each day? Did you do anything to reduce condensation? Thanks!
