Is the gathering in the same place as the Winter NEHHA? Just wondering if I should bring my Fly Rods.

Yes it is. You can bring them. You should be able to catch some Perch, Bull Head, Pickerel, and hopefully some trout will be left from a fishing derby a couple of weeks before.

===> Actually, bear meat is delicious! Since most of the fat on a bear is up near the skin, the meat has little marbling, and it is generally best braised (cooked in liquids). I also like to brine most wild game if I can, to help soften the connective tissue, as well as remove some of the perceived 'gamey' taste.

Several rinses in cold salted water, lightly floured and seared in a pan to produce some fond for a sauce, then cooked in a nice wine sauce with several aromatics in a low-med oven produces meat that will melt in your mouth!

Hmmm. Maybe. Lots of stuff has to break the right way though

But it's a deadline for the wife's DIY DL.

====> not to worry about a hammock, if that is the issue! There will be several extras there to try/use. Would be great if you could make the hang!

Heck I'll even throw a 2 man tent in the car if ones needed. I think we'll have you covered.

We've got enough tents, and only 1 shy on hammocks:family member ratio.

My wife's going to Isle Royale, MI for 2 weeks late this summer, and we want to make her a DL hammock for it. Without a June deadline, we'd probably make it the week before she leaves in August lol.
