Welcome from Myrtle Beach. Nice to see another cowboy on here . Here you're among people with same problems. But we don't dont "fix" you, just understand and give you help when needed. Get the wife on board, things will get even better. Hope you have a great time here.
Leave me alone, I'm only talking to my dog today.

Thanks for the welcome. The info on this site has been great so far. From the patterns to sources of supply, if it weren't for the people on here sharing their knowledge and experience there's no telling where I'd be.

    Hey Ellis,

My name is also Ellis. I noted that in your post you failed to identify what your problem was. Seems perfectly normal to me. Sounds very similar to how I got started. The only difference is when my wife sews my stuff, she wants to do it her way and not necessarily the way I want it. But it is getting better. Explain how much it would cost if you bought it rather than made it. It might make her more agreeable.

Ellis, Nice to meet another one of us. I think you make the second that I've ever met. My wife doesn't really mind doing it bc of cost savings she just isn't a fan of the materials that I'm having her use. I also have already seen the situation with how I want it verses how she does it. Lucky for me I'm smart enough to realize that the way she did it was far superior the way that I want it and is actually an improvement to the design

In my family, there is me, my father, paternal AND maternal great-uncles and the list goes way back in the family.

I was quite happy with the way the wife was doing it too, until she started poking needles through the sides of my DIY tarp. Took a bit of sealing to fix that and I am not really sure it was enough. You will love this forum and you are truly in DIY heaven.

I started out with a $60 net hammock, now I'm spending a couple hundred every few months, Hammock Gear, Warbonnet, these are some of my dealers. Sometimes I cook some stuff up in my basement when I can get my hands on some cheap nylon. Some of my friends have singled me out because I spend my weekends sleeping between trees in 20 degree weather. But if I don't, I get strung out. The is the support group, but don't expect us to help you overcome your addiction, we'll just introduce you to ways to new ways to support your habit. Welcome from Ohio!

Welcome aboard from Florida. Make the wife happy and impress her at the same time. Don't ask her to sew it for you, ask her to show you how to do it. Remember it is just an electrically powered tool, just like a skillsaw, drill, etc. Oh, most do come with instructions.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
