Genuine Draft and I are both sleeping in a Bossa Nova these days. Well, I think that's what GD has hanging right now anyway; might be a Jewel. The Bossa Nova is probably my favorite Brazilian at the moment. Very nice rig!

Most of the hammock sites offer Brazilian hammocks; Swings n' Things, Hammocks.com, Seaside Hammocks, Hammock Company, etc. I have ordered from all the sites I've listed and have been happy overall with them. Like anything else, I've experienced some issues, but they were resolved with the companies easily and quickly.

Some of them use the generic moniker of "South American Hammocks", but once you've spent a little time looking the Brazilians are easy to spot. I don't buy anything (as a rule) that is less than 13' in overall length. There are some short ones that are great, but they are the exception and you never know until you get it. So, I hedge my bets and swing for the sweet spot by only ordering ones 13'+ in overall length. So far, it has served me well.

Heh, don't be fooled by the marketing. You can hit that page, or any other on their site and find they are always "On Sale".

Still a good deal though and "Free Shipping" is always nice. After being accustomed to getting hammock packages in the mail, you're going to freak when you pick up this box.

I think you wanted to buy one, but if you get a DIY itch then making your own isn't too painful. I did one using muslin and some of that decorative fabric. I'm sure one layer of a thicker fabic would work fine. I made the hammock wider by cutting a piece of fabric in half and the two pieces sewing it onto the edges. I then left some of the fabric loose at the side and use it to cover myself up with like a blanket. Its just about the best porch hammock I could ever ask for. I did change the spreader bars to a smaller piece of hard wood. I added the spreader bars because I didn't realize how short I made the hammock and with how thick the fabric is a standard GE wasn't comfortable. Make the hammock 13 feet and there would be no problems.

Hey, it even has the nice fringe along the edges to stop the under butt draft. That's one of the great things I like with my Brazilian.

Yeah, the fringes are all about Genuine Draft and her requirement that the hammocks be "pretty".

She even makes me wash mine a couple of times a year!
