What to use to fix a tear in Camo SF

Hello. So today I set up my new camo superfly and noticed a little tear in the fabric near one of the guy attachments. I have no idea how this could have happened so soon as this is the second time the tarp has seen the light of day.
Anyways, before I hang it again I am going to have to fix it. I am justt curious as to the best method for patching silnylon. I was going to buy a tent repair kit, and use the sticky patches on both sides. Anyone have any ideas?

I would ask brandon (warbonnetguy) what he recommends but a scrap of sil either sewn and seam sealed or glued with silicone should work just fine.

Ya, thanks. I am just worried that it may start to fray, and then my 200 $ tarp will be scraps. Whatever the case is, I emailed warbonnet guy about maybe getting a patch for it, but in the mean time I will probably just use the tent repair kit, just cut a little square from the big square.

No on the tent repair kit!

You want to use the same type of fabric if it needs a patch and the repair kits your going to find are not likely to be the same fabric. A small hole (like the size a pen would poke)can be patched with just a drop of silicone one one side, let it dry over night then the same on the second side. Put it on a flat surface so the silicone will level out a bit and not drop/run. If a bigger spot then use a patch of fabric from WB to stabilize the whole. Coat the patch with silicone and again on a flat surface.

Excellent. That seems like it would work great for this. Why didn't I think of that. Thanks for the warning about the tent repair kit. Upon closer insection, I have noticed that it is a rip, so all of the fabric is still there. The silicone will hold the two sides together and I will end up with a perfect almost unoticable fix (noticable to me only because I know its there). Thanks for your suggestions. :-)
In the future I will not test new equipment out in extreme conditions like blizzards or wind gusts until I am familiar with operations. I learn something new everyday.

There's always Tenacious Tape if you don't mind seeing the repair. I've used that stuff to fix tents and even my hydration bag in the past. I usually carry a small patch for field repairs but since it is a new tarp, hopefully you can sort out a solution with Brandon. Cheers
