    A Big Hello from Nampa,Idaho

new to hammocks and this site .I'm a48 year old male vet (82nd-1/325 AIR-11B) a family man ,born again christian,24year member of the SHEETMETAL WORKERS #55 (yea you'll have to speak up !) love the out doors, hunting, fishing and camping. Do a little rock hounding as well.
I started out with a GT -UL just to see about this hammocking stuff. Then got an ENO-DN( started a fire )
And now I want more,I want more,I want more
THinking about a WBBB 1.7 but do I want a single layer for warm weather , or a double cause it seems to be the most popular

    Hi & Welcome !!

i have both single and double layer hammocks.

considering the fact that you are NOT in mexico, or even closer to the equator, i would speculate that you will still feel air movement under a double layer. Guess i am saying i dont feel that "warmer weather" is a pivotal point for going single. Before getting into it, i thought it would, but now i dont. even in my double, on hot days, every little breeze is felt (even when i dont want to feel it) hence i will bring a blanket with me on warm days... to lay on.

    stuff you prolly already know:
single layer is lighter carrying weight
double allows for much nicer use of sleeping pad (between the layers)
but an UQ can be used with both single &/or double

    Peace n Joy !!

    More

Don't think there is a cure. Welcome to the joy or madness, depending on your outlook. I have been here just over a year and now have 5 hammocks. I don't know why. How can you possibly sleep in more than one at a time?

First of all, thank you for your service.
Welcome to you, good sir, from Florida. Congrats on the obsession, your back will thank you.
And, I also recomend group hangs. There are a great bunch of folks here and most willing to help at a momments notice.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
