Great point. This last trip out (I just returned), I did not have everything I needed. I had everything I thought I needed. I was prepared for the summer, this is late spring...a cool and wet late spring. From someone who loves a light pack, I want to ensure that my next trip out is more comfortable and less likely to end 17 miles from the planned exit point.

I went to a store nearby and saw some expensive "synthetic" clothes and some water purification systems. Would anyone mind giving me an opinion on these?

    clothes:

    "merino wool"
    "thermasilk"

    water:
aquamaria - $15, not for continual long-term use

the gravityworks filter weighs a bit. the "light" filter system weighs more. not sure how that happened.
