No bottom insulation?

With summertime camping here, at what temperature would you say that you don't need bottom insulation?

It depends on your personal sleep factors of staying warm. I was out this past weekend and my friend who was hammocking and had the under quilt slip off and woke up at 2am freezing at 60 degrees. There are alot of factors that come in to play. I always take one along no mater what....if someone doesn't have an underquilt it could make for along sleepless and uncomfortable night...one can always move it on or off for comfort. just my humble opinion.

I am also in No. Va (Sterling) and will be using bottom insulation until over night temps stay in the 90's. Since body temp is 98.6, sleeping in even 70F can be a chilling experience. I don't want to have the need to install my quilt at 3AM if I can avoid it.

Oh excellent! I am over in Fairfax. Just was curious when you ditch the pad.

Im in Wisconsin, and I use my uq any time below 70

I am in a HH w/JRB UQ...love my down I do use a CCF pad but only when it goes below freezing. Not thinking that will happen until December

I really want an UQ, but it just isn't in the budget for the time being, so I make due with pads for now. I'll get an UQ one day. Been eyeing up the AHE Jarbidge.

This last weekend I used a pad, it got down to the upper 50s. I had to kick that thing off to hot, but the humidity was killer.

I tried once in the mid 60s.

Froze my butt off, maybe if the overnights were in the high 70s I could pull it off.
