DD Underblanket or AHE New River 3S Long?

These two UQ's seem to be pretty comparable in temp rating. (-5C vs 25F)

New River is 43gr lighter, has more color choices and is $80 more expensive. Can any one comment on how well it compresses in a stuff sack? How long is the long quilt? It says it is for people up to 6'6", but I cannot find the actual length

DD does not state anything about the materials of the underblanket and is 2m (79") long and has no color choices.

My AHE New River Long is 83" long. The regular is 76" long. I can't really say how well it compresses. Mine is custom width at 40" and I just jam it in the bottom of my pack.

I have a DD underblanket soon to be upgraded to one of UGQ Zepplins. DD's temp rating in my opinion is way of the mark and will not keep you warm in winter. I would say it's a summer uq having used it every week since Feb and a few cold nights meant I was uncomfortable to say the least. I guess it's the same old story of you get what you pay for.

stan794. Let me know if you are going to get rid of your DD. I may want to buy it. Not planning on going real cold

As for temp ratings, AHE seems to be pretty accurate. I have had my New River down to 30F and it showed no sign of being not enough.

The DD Hammocks website says that the underblanket is good to -5C...not -5F. I've used it below zero Celsius a few nights and as long as I had it nice and snug up against me with no gaps between it and my hammock, I was toasty warm. In fact, one morning I woke up sweating I was so warm when it was that cold outside. I guess it all depends on how much you're willing to spend. If I had had the money for a more expensive UQ at the time I'd probably not have gone with the DD one but so far it's been ok for me until I get a down one.

The DD is great value for money, but obviously nothing like as packable as down.....Its not a heavy duty winter quilt but it should take anyone down to around freezing easily.
