    Molly Mac Gear Box Suspension

Question for those who own one:

What kind of suspension is used to hang the Gear Box? And does it come with suspension, or do you need to add your own? I thought I read something about whoopies - but not about how it hitches to the tree.

If it's a supply your own kind of thing, I suppose you could do any of the various methods that we use to hang our hammocks. But if it comes with, I don't see anywhere that explains what is included.

    Thanks!

You need to supply your own. Mine came with two loops at the end which I just attached some light rope as that is what I had but whoopies would work well.

It doesn't come with anything, so you use whatever rope you have. I use the same line I use for guylines. It's an easy way to keep spare guylines with me, just in case.

I used some tech line from DIYsupply (same as zing-it almost) and have a single line coming off each end. On each line, I have a prusik with an s-biner. Loop the line around the tree, and clip it onto itself. quick and simple.

I remember checking yours out at the winter hang, but couldn't remember how you were hanging it. Thanks!

It doesn't come with suspension, because what kind and how long is a personal choice. Some like to use whoopie slings. I prefer one long and one short piece of light line. It doesn't take much, because it's not going to carry much weight.

    Thanks, Mac!

When you say one long and one short - is that so you have options? Or do you have different lengths on different sides of it?

I find two trees near my setup, and tie the short one to one of the trees. Then I adjust the sag with the long one.
