Attention! Fall MAHHA to relocate. No longer at BRC in Virginia.

Looking at a map I see Gallitzin State Forest in southern central PA. It only does primative backpacking camping but does have picnic shelters. Im on BA so know nothing about it. Has anyone one else had experience with PA State Forests (not Parks)?

Working on a lead on a private campground. Supposed to call them tomorrow. The initial response to my email stated that they could accommodate all the criteria that was posted earlier in this thread. I'll provide much more info tomorrow.

Saedy, we're still trying to keep it more centrally located for now.

Not to step on any toes here, however, looking into south jersey just to have a last minute, 11 th hour, backup plan may not be a bad idea. I for one would rather have a smaller MAHHA than no MAHHA.

My vote FWIW, which isn't much, would be to move the date and get back to Pine Grove, which was a great location, provided other options don't pan out.

Yep, Pine Grove seems to be the perfect place, maybe the weekend before or after?

Coming from Washington DC, Pine Grove is accessible for me. As would be most any wv location. I just want to do my first group hang.

None taken about the toes. I've been in touch with a variety of people who help make both MAHHAs work and the consensus is that we should try to keep it south of Pine Grove Furnace.

Hope this next comment will not get me into big trouble but for what it's worth. . . I know that a lot of people from different states have cleared the 3rd weekend in October for the Fall MAHHA, and I for one would not be insulted if different people started posting multiple little Fall MAHHAs as we get into Sept. Our problem is not so much finding a location as finding a location big enough to handle a big group.

Like you say, smaller MAHHAs are better than no MAHHAs.

If there are multiples in different states, people still get together and have fun. The Google docs template for the hang is there to be copied, just follow it on a smaller scale. Our first MAHHA was 25 people and probably 1 JRB quilt or prize was raffled at the first or second MAHHA for fun.

If we don't have a location nailed down by early or mid September, this is what I suggest.
