    Wisconsin, Milwaukee, park rules

Just curious if there are any weird rules about hanging in Milwaukee county parks?

I haven't picked up my hammock yet, either this week or next, probably. I only have one tree at my house, nothing on the other side. My parents had to cut down the second of a perfect spaced pair of trees in their yard.

I have every intention on building a stand for my yard, but would like to play with setups before an upcoming trip on the 23rd.

Anything I should know before I head out and start finding a test ground? I have quite a few parks close to me.

I would bet that you wouldn't be bothered. After all, it's not like you'd be camped out overnight.

I didn't think so. Was just hoping there wasn't some obscure laws against it that I was missing. I couldn't find anything.

The law wouldn't be so specific anyway as to "hammocks". There might be laws in the city parks as to "harming trees in or on public lands" and that would be for the city arborist to decide. I believe you would be able to explain what you are doing and have no problems.

I would bet that you wouldn't even be noticed by anyone other than the occasional park user even right out in the open. Move into he woods 20 feet and nobody would notice you. The situational awareness or, lack of, among people is amazing.

I never thought about going to a more wooded park. Living in the heart of the city, less than a block from state fair park, people always seem more concerned about themselves than what's going on around them anyway.

I grew up in Brown Deer and attended UW-Milwaukee. I have hung my hammock in parks all over the place including the east side and never had any trouble. I have on occasion, pitched the hammock around 4am or so after a long night in the studio and slept while the early dog walkers and morning joggers come out. Never had a problem. Every now and then I get a few questions from passersby.

Thanks. Work just got crazy, so I still haven't gotten around to getting my hammock purchased yet, but as soon as I do...I'm heading to the park.

When some people will be digging their snow cave next week, we probably will play with our hammock setups a little I'll have to fit my 10ft hammock into 8ft shelter, and my nose would be sticking out all night, while I have a perfect nightlight in the form of the moon and stars, but it was done in the past and not without comfort.
