    Finally made a DIY hammock

So, I recently had a bugnet added to my open top lounger hammock and really kinda missed the simplicity of it. So I decided to DIY a new one. I ordered some 1.1 2nds from DIY gear supply and some cordage from Dutch. I hemmed the 10' x 5' hammock and whipped it Warbonnet style. I also spliced an adjustable Lash-It ridgeline and some Dynaglide whoopies. I used cargo straps from Walmart and cut some carbon fiber arrow shaft toggles. Lastly I made a really terrible looking ridgeline organizer just to keep track of the bulky pocket items while i'm lounging around. The whole thing including suspension in the stuff sack weighs 10.75oz. So far I love it! Took it to the top of Pinnacle Mountain yesterday and got to hang out while the boys explored the summit.

Very nice! That organizer looks okay.

Ah, Pinnacle Mountain -- used to take my children there quite often -- nice hike with a great view at the top.

I don't know how I missed this, but it looks awesome. 10.75oz for your entire system is pretty amazing. Looking good.

I don't know how much force is exerted on the toggle of a marlin spike hitch, so I might just be talking out of the lowest point of my hammock, but...

I'd be very reluctant to use carbon fiber arrow shafts. While they are incredibly strong under axial compression, they have almost no resistance to being crushed from the side, especially if the force is not applied evenly all the way around. Just squeeze a scrap piece between your fingers and you'll see what I mean.

If you're working with arrow shafts because of their high availability/low cost, aluminum is probably more suitable. If you just like carbon fiber, then you may want to look for woven instead of extruded carbon tube. Sometimes you can get free samples if you pay shipping.

the only reason I chose carbon toggles is because I couldn't find any broken aluminum arrows at my local archery range, I will probably replace these with some aluminum ones though. thanks for the tip

Like this rig! Working on lightening my kit and will be looking at something similar.

As a side note. If aluminum arrows aren't available, check out the knitting needles at WM. 2 needles per pack for $2.97 = 6 toggles approx. 3" each.
