    Dismals hang was

    Awesome!

Hey folks. I had a great time! Thanks for having us. It was great to meet new folks! I am also glad that my Pops decided to go at the last minute.

Dismals Canyon is a very nice place. I think of it as a really condensed version of some of the wonders you can find in the Sipsey Wilderness, with some added things, like blackfly larvae that live in the moss. They glow in the dark and light up the canyon at night... Here are just a few photos. More later.

Awesome pics. Thanks for sharing. I am eager to learn more of the trip, as I'd like to get up there soon. Did you guys base camp or backpack around? Are there dedicated camp sites where you can hang, or is it pretty open to go off trail, etc. it looks beautiful there.

I was thinking bout you guys last couple of days. I really wanted to get there and meet you folks but just didn't come together. And I guess you were down into the 30s last night? Did any one hike in the Sipsey?

It's a DIY tarp, DIY Sil. The name of the pattern is Fall Mimicry.

It's a small private park encompassing a canyon, so no backpacking and camping is only allowed in designated sites. Off trail hiking is prohibited.

    AL>Dismals Canyon>OCT 18-19

I would like to take a moment to thank each of you who came for coming. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone come together and hope to see each of you again at future hangs. Logan had such a great time as well!! We explored the area this afternoon and came across another really nice place. Rock Bridge Park. Worth checking out if any of you are back in the area. I will set some time aside this week to go through pictures and get them to each of you. Hope each of you have a wonderful and blessed week and happy hangin!

    Chriss,

Already said this in person, but just wanted to thank you publically for bringing this place to our attention. Cool, unusual place. Also glad to meet you folks.

Also thank Squidbilly for that heavy ridgeline he made. Worked like a charm....actually got almost twice as much sleep as last hang at Cheaha.

So who is up for a nice winter Sipsey trip? I should probably wait for Y'all to rest from this trip to even be asking!
