I'm Beardly and I think I may have been sucked into this crazy hammock world. I was looking at different sleep methods for camping. I'm no ultralight guy, but why carry more crap then you need to. Well I am either too cheap or too poor to buy stuff, so I make a lot of stuff and decided to make a hammock. Figured rope would be a good way to go since I have a few thousand feet paracord, but from what I saw, it would use a lot, be bulky and heavy. then I saw a tutorial at tothewoods.net and was SOLD! Bought some material and sewed it up. The scary thing was the straps. The stuff at wally world had no weight, not enough of one type, so one strap was nylon and one was polypro. Only place to try it at home was about a good 30 foot span with doubled paracord between straps and hammock, tied a think sycamore and a basketball pole that has been hit and bent by a truck. Tied it up about 4 foot off the ground, gingerly nestled in and slowly reached the ground. Raised it up again, hit the ground. Third time was about shoulder level and fairly level. I couldn't figure out if that pole was about to fall on me of if 20+ feet of synthetic rope and strap was stretching that much, but I finally was off the ground. Like all great all great discoveries, I did my research after the fact.
So in short, I'm Beardly, I like hammocks, I live in OR, I have terminal ADD, and I'm told that I ramble.
