How do you make the wife's first hang the best?

Why order her a 20* Burrow from Hammock Gear of course. I am bringing her to the Fall NEHHA for her first hang and just ordered a new 69" 20* Burrow for her to snuggle up in ( of course I'm going to use it when she's not camping with me). My second purchase from HammockGear and I'm 100% certain I will love it as much as my first. She calls my, er i mean her, hammock a "womb with a view".

We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

Make sure she spends some, at least, nap time around the house in it before you take her to the woods. She will need some adjustment time to figure out how to best lay to have her head/legs comfy along with figuring out where she wants you to adjust her ridgeline to, install the ridgeline bag, you know...decorating!

Lucky. My wife thinks camping is staying in a Best Western.

+1 to this, absolutely try and get her to spend a few nites in the hammock at home, your first time shouldn't be out in the woods trying to figure out how to get comfortable, your just asking for trouble doing it like that

Agreed. Good advice. We were on vacation (in a cabin on Lake Champlain) and I brought my hammock setup. She spent some time in it and was her first introduction. She liked it but she is very claustrophobic which is the main fear. I don't have any trees in my yard that are the right distance for a hammock so I may have to build a stand this weekend..

Haha! She's not alone in that thinking.. My wife LOVES camping out in tents but this will be a first in a hammock. I think it will work out..

"she is very claustrophobic" same with my wife so I hung both hammocks real close together under the same tarp so she could see me. my tarp was almost in double pitch mode
