It is a synthetic type insulation.
From their site....Proprietary Insulations from The North Face
A proprietary, synthetic insulation from The North Face, Heatseeker® insulation has a great warmth to weight ratio, and is extremely compressible. This combination yields a very warm, lightweight insulator that helps keep garments packable and easy to stuff in backpacks and luggage. Found in everything from jackets and pants to gloves and boots from The North Face.
