Put another way, if your 16 sq yd hammock weighs 7.7 oz, then the fabric weight would be 7.7oz/16 sq yd or 0.48 oz/sq yd.

Is your hammock really 16 sq yd?
1 sq yd is a piece 3 ft x 3 ft or 9 sq ft
16 sq yd is 144 sq ft
So if your hammock body is 12 ft long, that would be 12 ft wide (single layer) or 6 ft wide (double layer).

A typical (?) 11 x 5 ft hammock body would have 55 sq ft or about 6 sq yd. of fabric, which would be more in the 7 oz 'ballpark' for light nylon.
Dang my brain is cashed 0_o alright my hammock is 9ft 8in long buy 5ft wide single layer. I thought I had the 16 square yards right but I'm not good at math so probably messed something up. With these measurements can you help me? The Materal I bought today the finished hammock body weighs 10.2oz (measurements above) but the total weight of the hammock body fabric is 10.2oz for this nylon I bought today. #braindead ATM

So if I took my length inches (116inches) times my width inches (60inches) took that total of 6,960 then divide it buy 36 which equals 193.3 then divide 193.3 buy 36 which equals 5.37. Then I take the weight of my fabric (10.2oz) then divide that buy 5.37 which equalls 1.89 rounded up equalls 1.9 oz/sq yrd?=70D?
