Lightbulb Blackbird ordered - and some top secret info :)

    Hi all,

let me start out by thanking all of the mods and contributors here, I have been lurking for a few weeks now and feel like I have effectively downloaded the consciousness of the hammocking community...

With this new found knowledge, I made the decision today and placed an order for a Blackbird double 1.7 w/ web and rings, and a MacCat Ultra.

As of today, it sounds like Brandon is about 3-4 weeks out on the above.

Here's the top secret info... and you didn't hear it from me .

The vendor that he has been buying his gray material from is behind and he had picked up some black for a "future project". He sounded willing to make my BB in black if I wanted (I actually want the gray lol). We did not discuss price, so it may cost him a bit more in black, but for all of you who have been clamoring for a black BB, shoot him an e-mail, and strike while the iron is hot.

Thanks again to the mods for making the forum available.

hearty hammock welcome to ya. slept in my BB this weekend. My sister-in-law thought I was crazy as did my brother-in-law but hey I slept like a baby and had a great golf round the following day. I used mine in the cellar at their house so I didn't have to use the couch , OUCH.(they live 2 hours away and it was the nephews 1st b-day). Woke up nice and rested. congrats on the order. As far as the color for me I like the O.D. green for easy seeing of the ticks if they happen to find their way into the BB easier to spot them little buggers vs. the color black. thats just me though. see ya.

Good luck with that one. I don't think anybody has figured what we're doing yet; it changes everyday.

Oh now after crying to brandon forever about a black bb and just after getting my gray one i read this.... haha but now i don't want to give up my gray one b/c i don't know if it will ever be made in gray again. lolz

I was wondering though, instead of getting a double layer version wouldn't it be wiser if your looking to use a pad to get this...

you could use it with a pad but this way you can also leave it at home when you don't need it.
Also can be used as poncho or to protect down uq from water.

I'm so glad that he didn't have black when I ordered. That was what I wanted but now that I've seen the gray in person I really like it. It's a pretty gray.

I have one of the black and one of the grey, and I prefer the grey... I imagine I will prefer it even more when it gets to be really hot here in GA and the sun is really beating down....

    It's all in!

BlackBird in Double 1.7 Gray with a greenish hue, and Mac Cat Ultra in Gray with a slightly bluish Hue.

Love the new black webbing on the ring buckle system, picked up a 2nd ring buckle system for my ENO as well.

Overall blown away with the quality and comfort of the BBird. Soo much easier to get comfortable in than my ENO double.

My first hang is tonight in my back yard. Weather is nice, lows in the mid 50's. Will post some pics of the setup over the weekend if I get a chance.
