    Hello from Nebraska!

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and new to hanging. I've been dreaming of hiking the AT for almost a decade now and am setting off on my first section hike next year. I decided to become a hanger after reading Certain's trail journal and the trail journals of other hangers.

I haven't bought my hammock yet. I've been doing tons of research first. If I am going to make an investment, I want it to be something I will be happy with for years to come. I'm hoping to crash a hang in the midwest area sometime soon. I'm sure everyone will be more than happy to talk about their setups and show me the tricks of the trade.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you better!

Welcome to the site. Watch out for information overload during your first couple of weeks. It can be like trying to drink from a firehose. The members here are very eager to help answer any questions that you may have.

The fire hose analogy is very apt. Just as soon as I settle on what brand/style of hammock to buy, what suspension to use, what TQ/UQ/OMGWTFUSABBQ to use... I see something that changes my mind.

    Welcome from Nebraska

    Welcome Stephz0r.
There is getting to be more HF members from Nebraska. Several in the Omaha area. I don't know of any local hangs for this fall. Football schedule makes it hard for fall hangs. We had a small one at Indian Caves State Park a couple years ago.
If you are willing to travel a little the Ozark hang in April has lots of members to meet and gear to look at.
