They feel super weird on hard surfaces like pavement because of that, but it works very well in snow. You don't want to be using them on pavement anyway though, because the sole rubber is quite soft and will wear out from that sort of use, and any spills of motor oil or gasoline will really mess it up apparently.

I think everyone should have one of these for the FBH.

Find them at the link below.

I agree that postholing on cross country ski trails is very rude and usually against the rules. However, hiking trails are meant for hiking and I consider them fair game for "post-holing".

I meant I abhor post-holing….meaning me doing the post-going. It is so tiring. I care not if someone else does it…their choice.
For this trip we will actually be walking on a snowmobile trail.

The MN DNR publishes a map every Thursday as well based on on-the-ground measurements, and NOAA has one that's hourly estimations.

Well it was about knee deep last year……very well packed on the snowmobile trail we walked in on.
Not scientific but that is what we had.

You guys wouldn't mind if a couple Hoosiers joined the fun would you?

My friend is a seasoned paramedic, and loves the cold weather,as do I.

I am new to hammocking, but have been ground dwelling for over 20 yrs.

Currently I'm having a custom peapod built for my ridge runner, and also a sock made from gortex.
