    Tarp help with whoopie slings

I changed the stock HH suspension for whoopie slings. I'm using the asym tarp on the ultralight backpacker. How should I attach the tarp now? Originally there was the prussic knot on the suspension, but with the whoopies that doesn't look like it will work. Should I make a CRL for the tarp and hang it close to the hammock? Can I use the tiny thin original end line on the tarp with some dutch bling? Some detailed pics are much appreciated.

Look up on YouTube whoopie slings for Hennessy hammock. That is where I got my info from. You may have to add a continuous loop for extra length.

Now you know why I think removing the stock suspension is stupid. Much better to terminate the lines in drip rings and use whatever you want form there.
    YMMV

Here's a video I put together a while back. Let me know if you have any questions. I've always found it hard to get a nice tight tarp with it attached to the hammock suspension.

If you ain't havin' fun, you're doin' it wrong

many options, but whoopies for the tarp won't work. They won't release under tension

I have the whoopies on the hammock.

    Caveman,
I like the simplicity there. I need to order some zingit and practice making some loops then.

I could be wrong, but I think most people who switch out the Hennessy suspension for something else abandon the notion of attaching the tarp to the hammock suspension. I never liked the Hennessy suspension (too heavy) and I never liked the way Hennessy attached the tarp. (tends to sag when you get in)

Your two basic options for that are a continuous ridgeline, about 30 feet long, with the tarp clipped to prussics on the CRL. There are a bunch of ways to attach the CRL to the tree, including some pretty cool bling from Dutch, Nite ize figure 9's and good old fashioned knots. I recently got rid of the CRL and switched to a small length of zing it off each end of the tarp, secured by Dutch Tarp Flyz. Either will work.

When I dumped the Hennessy suspension for whoopies, I also stopped attaching the tarp to the suspension - never liked the sagging. I went to a Zing-It continuous ridgeline for the tarp with Dutch Hook and a Tarp Flyz.

I put my tarp over the CRL, that way if for some reason it sags it has something to rest on. I know people do it both ways, I've never tried the CRL over the tarp because this has always worked for me.
