We visited Cumberland Island (GA) this weekend. Didn't spend the night, but did spend the day traipsing around. The campgrounds are full of live oaks that are primo hanging sites, close to the beach but protected in a beautiful canopy.
Went to one of the primitive sites a few miles north of the ferry dock and met a Boy Scout troop (287 Marietta). About 10 out of 40 were in hammocks - cool. One of the Scout Masters is a member on HF and had a couple of DIY rigs there but I can't remember his name.
Anyhoo, Cumberland a great place for a hammock!
