Yeah, really. A synthetic quilt rated for 28 or 40 ounces is only a few ounces heavier than a down quilt. The fabric weighs the same for either.

Price Reduction to $100 including shipping, someone needs to use this for the summer. Much better than it sitting in my closet!

you can get a Full 20 degree sleeping bag for 32 OZ From FF or WM and you can get a down quilt with 20 degree capability from JRB for about 21 OZ. Is possible to go even lighter With a nunatak ARC for about 17 oz but it way more expensive so i stand by what i said it is a great quilt for someone who is starting out and wants something pretty light for a really good price. It is not thread crapping just a Fact.

A synthetic underquilt for a gathered end hammock needs to be "shaped" like the KAQ.

    not true...
While I agree that a 'shaped' (darted) is easier, I've made 3 synthetic TQs that double as UQs...they work just like a rectangle down quilt.
That is all I use down to 25*F when I switch to my Yeti...

if the quilt is made per Ray Way instructions the footbox is sewn in - from the picture, it's a typical RW quilt. You could potentially use a kit to make an underquilt if you use the measurements for the JRB quilt and put corner loops and draw cords on the ends. But I'd say you're better off with a Yeti if you want synthetic; less bulk.
