Talking First hang in our new BBirds.

My buddy and I are new BBird owners. He is a long time backpacker / ground dweller who saw the light via an ENO and has now sucked me into both backpacking as well as hammocks. Here are some shots from our first hang in our new BBirds.

    My Rig:

Warbonnet BlackBird in double 1.1 gray / green with ring buckle suspension. Mac Cat Ultra sil tarp.

    BamaMan35's Rig:

Warbonnet Blackbird double 1.1 in black w/ ring buckle suspension. SuperFly shelter in blue.

A shot of both pitched together:

and a 270 deg panorama quick stitched just for fun:

We had a blast and the weather held out for us even though apparently we pitched camp in the middle of tick heaven. The bug nets worked beautifully!

Lookin good. That grey green is pretty slick. What were you using for insulation? Glad you guys had fun.
I thought I was wrong once, turns out I was wrong about that.

Thermarest for me, Big Agnes or Bama.

We both have the UQ fever, but have to replenish funds from the above acquisitions.

I will say that I was hot all night, but think I would have been cold with nothing underneath (low mid 60's).

Makes me think that a 3 season UQ may be to thick for much of the year here in the deep south. There may be a Shenandoah in my future...

The hammock that is under the grey tarp is the Warbonnet Grey hammock. It is actually a greenish grey color. It looks more green in the pic but that is because it is right next to his Maccat which is a blueish grey color. When you look at the hammock by itself it looks a lot more grey. It's a great color.

On a side note, we could tell a difference in the inside temp on the two hammocks that we think was because of the color. My black hammock seemed a little hotter/warmer.

Great pics. Where did you guys go to hang? I went to DeSoto State Park Friday night and came back today (Sunday). The MacCat did a great job with the rain that came and went about a dozen times. Of course the BB was excellent. I didn't use a pad at all. I had my Blue Kazoo sleeping bag and was fine. I doubt I will use a pad until October if camping around our neck of the woods as they say here in Bama.

We actually just ran out to Oak Mountain for the night. Soular and me both had to be back early on Saturday for family but you know how it is... we just had to try these things out.

We went to Desoto for some car camping a couple of weeks ago. It's really nice since they redid the campsites, etc. Of course, now we need to go hang up there.
