Volunteers have put in several days of work on 207 with hand tools and crosscut saws. The problem is, there is more work than there are volunteers. 207 has sustained damage at least once a year since 4/27/11--it's just kind of overwhelming.

I completely understand. I am hoping to make time to volunteer a weekend before the end of 2014 to help out. I think the biggest problem I had with 207 is that I got off of it. (my fault) I lost it rather quickly after crossing the creek down from the bridge on some downed trees and took it upon myself to start walking West/Northwest up a hollow and then had to walk back Northeast from there. I never imagined it being as bad as it was. With the already challenging terrain coupled with all of the downed trees, I had quite the workout on Saturday. But I again... I must stop or I will end up doing a full trip report here!! I will try and complete one tonight. I hate I missed everyone that was in the area on Sunday.

Our backup plan if it rained was the Sipsey. Now that the chance of rain is so low, I am headed to the Walls of Jericho Saturday night with a couple of people in t**ts.
    I haven't yet made a custom signature.

Nice! Those in t**ts will have to camp near the graveyard. You however, can camp anywhere you like, even above the falls. Be sure to point this out-it might convince them to take another look at hanging.

We were there almost exactly a year ago. We started at Thompson Bridge and took 206 down to 209 then followed the Sipsey almost to Bee Branch. We camped there then went up to the Big Tree and took the shortcut out through White Oak Hollow and back. I think next time we go we will go backwards because that climb out of Bee Branch Falls is rough.
There is a great hang area at the end of Bee Branch at the Sipsey that will accomodate a big group of hammocks. Another one also on up 209 toward Ship Rock about .5 mile from Bee Branch however the trail runs right through the middle of the camp so you may get disturbed. The camp at the corner of Bee Branch would be my pick. From there back on day 2 up to 206 and back would be an easy leisurely walk. The hard part will be done day 1. There is the one crossing on Bee Branch over to the unofficial trail but there is a tree across it but it can be very slick. A few in our group crossed on it but I chose to ford the creek, figuring a controlled crossing would be better than an uncontrolled fall into the creek, soaking all my gear. It's a great trip though.
Didn't mean to hijack the thread with a trip report though, Sorry.

Anybody want to wander around Sipsey Wilderness next week? I'm off work from 17th through 21st and planning on spending at least a couple of those days in the woods.

I wish that I could Squidbilly, but with all these snow days, I would feel bad blowing off work. I worked like 5 hours this WHOLE WEEK! Crazy snow! I hope that you have a good one though!
