    Aloha from Petoskey

Aloha from the breezy shore of Lake Michigan. Iím a Petoskey MI native who has recently realized my long time goal of becoming an enthusiastic backpacker; I was waiting for my son (wingman) to get old enough/ big enough to embark on footed wilderness adventures with me (AT sections begin in 2015, I think). Iíll go to ground IF I have to, but it sure isnít much fun, nor restful. Playing off of an old joke Robin Williams told years ago; if it wasnít for hammocks, I wouldnít be hanging in the woods.
Iíve been a member on here for a few months now and finally pulled the trigger and donated today. Good source of friendly information here.
Recently went on a group hang where I met several other HF members. Good Times! Next group hang, Iíll take the time to look at other setups to determine where I want to improve on my own system.

Welcome, and congratulations on getting out with your son, that should be a lot of fun! This will be my first full year of being out and about for a full season. Most of it will be spent with my wife being pregnant with our first. Should be interesting :+) As you saw on my intro, I'm in the Petoskey area as well. I would be interested to stay in touch for some local trip ideas. Glad to have you here.

Welcome to the Forum, from near Holland / Grand Rapids.
Try to make it to the Ludington hang in a few weeks. A few dozen folks will be there, see gear, ask questions, hang out.
I've gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, make sure I stay here.

When I see lovers' names carved into a tree, I don't think it's cute. I think it's strange how so many people take knives on a date.

Welcome from Pennfield. You're the second guy from Petoskey in a week. There's a group hang in Ludington Feb 7-9, you should come.
    Good luck,

Brad, Redoleary, I'm currently planning on being there Saturday afternoon...leaving Petoskey right after work (noon) for a 3 hr drive if the roads are decent. :-)

Welcome to the forum from Oklahoma. Liked the Robin Williams reference. I am going to have to us that one.
