Aloha from the breezy shore of Lake Michigan. I’m a Petoskey MI native who has recently realized my long time goal of becoming an enthusiastic backpacker; I was waiting for my son (wingman) to get old enough/ big enough to embark on footed wilderness adventures with me (AT sections begin in 2015, I think). I’ll go to ground IF I have to, but it sure isn’t much fun, nor restful. Playing off of an old joke Robin Williams told years ago; if it wasn’t for hammocks, I wouldn’t be hanging in the woods.
I’ve been a member on here for a few months now and finally pulled the trigger and donated today. Good source of friendly information here.
Recently went on a group hang where I met several other HF members. Good Times! Next group hang, I’ll take the time to look at other setups to determine where I want to improve on my own system.

Welcome, and congratulations on getting out with your son, that should be a lot of fun! This will be my first full year of being out and about for a full season. Most of it will be spent with my wife being pregnant with our first. Should be interesting :+) As you saw on my intro, I'm in the Petoskey area as well. I would be interested to stay in touch for some local trip ideas. Glad to have you here.

Brad, Redoleary, I'm currently planning on being there Saturday afternoon...leaving Petoskey right after work (noon) for a 3 hr drive if the roads are decent. :-)
