    Too much gear.. too much weight. I will be lighter next time - but I had camp chair, camp shoes, buck saw, insulated pants, down jacket, 0 degree quilts... several camp luxury items that added both volume and lbs. Shorter hikes are good opportunities to test new and different gear setups - but I will be lighter next time.

    I did the lower buffalo a few years ago in a canoe. Put in at Tyler bend. Short first day down to Rush. After the other national camp ground, it gets real deserted! All the way to the White. Have fun.

    I hiked the lower section around Maumee a few weeks ago and it's still grown up and hard to see the river from the bluffs because of the leaves on the trees. We are planing on another trip after they fall. I hope it's as pretty when we go, thanks for sharing.
