Have not had a chance to field test it yet, but I tried it on some different materials and but some stress on it and it held up fine. Held up to the point that I was more worried about tearing than the clamp popping off. By cutting the notch in the out pipe smaller it will have a tighter grip, but it almost becomes impossible to install, so finding the sweet spot there would help.
When the snow melts and I can get to my gear shed I am going to play around with the idea of running my ridge line through a couple pieces of pipe, so my tarp just clamps on.
