    Setup question

Is it wise or okay to connect my whoopee slings directly to my continuous loop? will that tension and creases in the same spot on the amsteel cause it to breakdown?

Yes you'll be okay, lot of folks use whoopie hooks to attach that way. You'll be amazed how much abuse amsteel will take.

+1 I use a Dutch hook on the Whoopie to attach to the loop on my hammock. No worries.

Lots of folks do it with no problem. However here is what Samson Rope specifies for what is a called a Bending Radius in order to maintain strength.

"Where a rope bends more than 10 degrees around bitts or chocks, or is bending across any surface, the diameter of that surface should not be less than 3 times the diameter of the rope. Stated another way, the diameter of the surface should be at least 3 times the rope diameter."

Yep. And cut a corner here, cut a corner there, and safety margin is down the toilet.

so do I need to add a hook? it is basically a square not that connects the whoopee to the loop. I fed the fixed eye through the loop and the fed the rest of the whoopie through the fixed eye.

I like the Dutch biners. I can use the same whoopies/straps with multiple hammocks that way. Just need a continuous loop on each hammock.

You are going to want a rain break unless you can trust the weather predictions.
The Dutch whoopie hook or Dutch biner work great to solve both problems.

I like these Dutch Hooks because it makes it really easy to separate the suspension from the hammock if necessary due to wet suspension, tree sap on huggers, etc.... of course, it also makes it easy to lose your tree huggers.
