    MS>Planning a Feb 21, 22 Family Hang

I am planning my very first hang with my new equipment and 10-yr-old son (and his new hammock as well) for Friday Feb 21st and Sat 22nd since it looks like we may have milder temps that weekend.

We are looking at backpacking about 3 miles into the Noxubee Hills Trail System and setting up near a stream. There is a fee of only $5 for use and open camping is allowed as long as "leave no trace" rules are utilized.

The Noxubee Hills Trail System is located about 1 1/2 hours south of Tupelo, 1 hour west of Columbus, or 1 hour 45 min from Jackson.

Like I said I will have my 10-yr-old with me but wanted to mention it if anyone else would like to come along.

Here is a couple links for this trail system:

I would be interested. How early in the day Friday are you hiking in? Not sure I can swing it, half day, etc. but definitely interested.

    No wound? No scar?
Yet, as the Master shall the servant be,
And piercd are the feet that follow Me.
But thine are whole; can he have followed far
Who hast no wound or scar?

I will probably check my son out a school a little early and get there at 2:30 pm or so. That way we can hike out and set up with plenty of light left.

However, I am talking with an experienced person re: the trail and can definitely give good trail directions to the area we plan to hang if someone wanted to come later.

Sounds interesting. I'll get a chance later today to look at the links you gave and check the calendar. Could be a doable gig. I'll let you know. Thanks for offering the option.

I'm gonna have to miss this opportunity. I will be in training with Baptist Global Response that weekend. Disaster relief training. Hope you have an awesome hang. We'll get together some other time. Thanks again to putting something like this together.

I have thought about going to one of those trainings as well so you will have to tell me what you thought. But with me and my son now BOTH having new hammocks, I am sure we will be getting out pretty regularly!
