Question Distance of Whipping from Hammock End?

I'm about to begin a hammock making frenzy

After looking at people's photos, I notice the distance of the whipping from the ends of the hammocks seem quite varied.

Other than not whipping too close to the end, is there anything I should know about the distance? Does it really matter? What's your opinion on the matter?

    I welcome your input !

    Thanks!

IMO,doesn't matter...it just takes away from the total length of the hammock if you leave it longer
obvious when it is too short!

I guess that would depend the size of the rope/cord that you are using to whip with. You want enough wraps, so when you pull the ends under that it will hold the whipping together.
If you use 1/8" rope/cord, 2 inches (or more) of wraps should be fine.

As long as you get the whip behind the hem on the ends you should be good to go. I do mine as close to the end of the hammock as possible. Just make sure your whipping is really tight.
