WOW. Thanks for the heads up. My gear pile is soooo deep that all i could justify buying was a mesh hat!

Should I order a long because of the use?

On the quilt, should one just order the largest, i.e. Long? Because I plan to use in the hammock?
    I am 5'7" and 190.

I'm trying to justify buying the quilt, but I just can't seem to convince myself, which is unusual for me. I don't even own a topquilt, but for some reason I'm hesitant to pull the trigger on this one. I read some threads where folks were saying it's not really a 20 degree quilt and is difficult to stay warm in. Maybe that's where my reluctance comes from.

Hey Ewker, here's a thread over at BPL about the Ultra 20 sizing.

this quilt is apparently the newer model. if you remember (or were watching) GoLite removed the Ultra from the website. not just a "here's a photo but its out of stock" but totally gone.
since the newer items have been shipping with the newer webbing strap system, i wonder if they also took care of the underfill issue. not to worry if its not a 20° quilt, im only going to use it down to 32° or so.

sizing: if you are 5'6" to 6'0" get the Regular. It will come up to your face but not over your head. Keep in mind that if you choose the Long to pull all the way up over your head, you may get unwanted moisture in your down - where the head end is Pertex Endurance which is waterproof, and wont let breath vapor escape.

    Thanks, Mike
Sizing does seem weird on the windshirts. Several people in the reviews say they are sized larger, like a person wanting an XL, should go for the Large.
I may just run over to my camp store and try on the windshirt to see what the hubbub is.

i have an Ether, (signed by Andy Skurka, no less) and its a little large. the sleeves are extra long, as if its made for bike riding or something. I can understand the loose fit for layering, but the sleeves? wierd.

also, for those on the fence, the quilts are almost sold out. Hurry!

Well, crap. You just HAD to post that BPL link so that I could read all the POSITIVE things about the quilt. Now I want one

I can't ever get married... you guys are too good at spending my money.

    Yeah, Mike made me jump.
I hope I used those coupons correctly, as the bill for the quilt and the Ether was $183 plus $10 shipping.
I gotta go get that line for this Thai hammock now! And then I'll probably find out Mike that the Ether XL was too big for me.

Wish I had some of you guys "set up skills" as I don't have time to fool with this hammock, and need to get packin' light! I will have everything in either my old North Face small backpack, or my new REI pack.
Maybe I'll take an old sheet over to my friend's house tonight and sew it up as a sack sheet, as I may have to sleep in some hostels, and I like a "barrier" of sorts in that type of sleep situation.
Oh well, I'm lighter by $200.

Mike, you gettin' a cut off of all the people you hook up with a quilt or something?

You, sir, are an enabler to a whole bunch of gear addicts.
