Just finished a real basic summer setup.
Hammock: DIY crinkle tablecloth hammock, 550 cord whipping = $14
Suspension: 550 cord and webbing = $10
Tarp and ridgeline: REI 4 man tent footprint, purchased at "used gear sale" = $8, more 550 cord = $4
Insulation: CCF pad = $8
TOTAL: $44 and about 20 minutes of work
Some guys really have the touch for almost anything! A Diy camping hammock for $44 and 20 minutes of labor. Wow! My wife would give me a medal ala Olympic gold for just replacing a busted fuse in our light box!

Haven't seen any links that we're not broken. I would love some recommendations for a good starter hammock. I had an eno but never really got into it. Now I am looking to build my kit for bushcraft I have a 6x8 tarp and I know how to build an under quilt for this winter, what hammocks y'all recommend for about the 60 dollar range.

At that price range, I suggest DiY all the way. The argon 1.6 Dutch sells is very comfortable and 12 ft of fabric only weigh about 10 ounces.
Great ideas on this thread for putting together inexpensive set ups. I end up taking up to 6 other people with me when I go, so I put together inexpensive set-ups for them. Here is one that is cheap and easy.

Thinking about Dutch bling for continuous ridge line for Tarp not sure. Didn't think I was going to drop $250 on a hammock, but here I am. Dropped 5 lbs. from my old 2 person tent and is way more comfortable and easier to pack. So far only have plans for Summer camping so have not really thought about a quilt.
I tried to hammock on the cheap and it worked for a couple of years:
HH Asym Zip w/postage stamp stock tarp - $159.95
0* Synthetic bag - already owned $0
ccf pad - already owned $0
That system took me from lows of 75 F at night down to 20 degrees. However, I really enjoy hiking, and cold weather camping.
That's when it got expensive.
HG 20 degree Burrow - $249
HG 20 degree Phoenix - $199
Dumped the HH Exped, got a BIAS Weight Weenie and Buginator - $135
Still not light enough for hiking; bought a HG cuben fiber Standard tarp - $300
HG CF standard tarp not big enough for 4-season camping; traded in for HG Winter Palace - $400
20* quilts not cutting it at 0* temps, bought HG 0* Burrow - $279
and also an HG 0* Incubator - $279
So I'm in it for around $1900 and I'm not even listing all the other hammocks, tarps, packs, stoves, Amsteel, Zing-It, Dutchware, boots and clothing I've bought. I'm guessing that's another $1000 right there.
And now I'm saving bucks for the HG 40* Burrow ($219) and Phoenix ($159). Probably gonna get both with a couple of oz. of overstuff (making them 30 degree).
I'll have three full setups with quilts and tarps so I can take two of my three kids on hanging/hiking/canoeing trips (I can never get all three on a trip 'cause they're all so busy with college or sports).
Four years into this hammock thing and I definitely have dropped a bundle.
Do not go down this dark path I've taken - stop now and go back to tents!

SilvrSurfr, wish I had listened to your good advice but I have gone down that dark path. Would go to hammock rehab but I can't seem to get out of my hammock long enough to go....

So I was all set, or so I thought, with a complete sleep setup, at 3.5 lbs and under $200.
Then I had to use itusing a pad and sleeping bag in the hammock was not fun. And after my leg worked its way out of the narrow hammock at 0300 one night, I woke up rolling out and falling flat on my face. ROGNLMAO? I decided that although light was my ultimate objective, comfort was the only thing that would keep me motivated to stay off the ground. So, I just jumped all in. Still wanting to keep my setup light AND comfy, I read through hundreds of threads here and watched just as many reviews, and ultimately settled on MY dream 3 season setup. Ordered last week and hope to be using it on an upcoming trip. I must give a shout out to Adam @ HG. He spent a great deal of time discussing the options available and helping decide what would fit MY needs.
WBBB 1.1 DL ~24oz ($200)
HG 4 door CF tarp ~6.5oz ($340)
HG Burrow 20 TQ ~16oz ($230)
HG Phoenix 20 UQ ~16oz ($200)
DIY suspension w/ dutchware, which makes it about 4.5 lbs for the full package.
Now the question is, what do I do for winter
