Very informative video's Griz thank you very much for putting them together. Having these tools in your back pocket can save the day when you find you forgot to bring, lost, or broke that latest tying gadget.

Glad these have value with age!

Handful of knot knowledge goes a long way in hammocking.

I think about whoopies but have cut a few tent pole section and just use marlinspike on straight amsteel. So far I like it and haven't bothered with whoopies easy to adjust to me.

After watching the first video, I was thinking of replacing my slapstraps with poly webbing, but after the second video, I think I'll go straight to whoopie slings! Thanks!
Your Video explained things quickly and effectively. I was getting a little lost on these forums

Truckers hitch with descending ring question

I was wondering if the setup in "Brief Primer on Hammock Suspension, Part II:cord" illus a trucker's hitch using a descending ring will work with the stock HH rope until I can do better. I don't know the size of the rope, but its fairly large since its the Safari model.

    Thanks

I have done it with welded steel rings on similar rope. I do not see why it would not work but untying might be a bit of a hassle.

Great videos! I have one question: I attempted the single line suspension with one steel ring at each end, and I made several loops through these rings with the cord, but I noticed that if I put any weight on the hammock, that the rings slip, and the hammock droops toward the middle. I'm using amsteel for the suspension chord. Is there any way to prevent the slippage without replacing the chord? Thanks for the info!
