Joz, I did something almost exactly like what you described for one of my neat sheet underquilts. I got some flat transparent elastic band material from JoAnn that weighed less than an ounce for something like a 30-foot length. I stretched that moderately while I was sewing it along the outisde of the quilt (no hem to speak of on the neat sheet). As long as the corners of the quilt are snug to the hammock, this works really well to eliminate gaps. It's light, cheap, and easy. When I'm out of the hammock and the quilt is relaxed, however, the bunched edges make it look like a giant blue diaper.

Heeheehee, yeah, that would be the drawback.

Was it difficult to make it? How did you keep the elastic stretched while sewing?

I'm semi-looking for some kind of lightweight stretch fabric, maybe that would be easier than elastic bands. And just to make it extra difficult I plan to make the baffles in different colors, to match my flag, haha.

This is pretty similar to the product I used: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.j...RODID=prd17779

I just gently pulled the elastic down the edge of the fabric and away from the machine as it fed under the presser foot. It didn't take much stretch to make it work correctly. I was able to use the once piece of elastic around all four edges without cutting, and it probably took less than 5 minutes.

    Tom Sawyer222,

FWIW, similiarity of design is not the issue, nor my point... Both of these UQ by their own design fit snugly against the hammock bottom and thus have no air gap which was the issue that post #1 was all about solving.

Same here, and not unexpected. Also, the WBUQ's fit snug against your back.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us....that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
