Hi everyone, Thanks for letting me join your fun community.

My name is Tony. I've been a backpacker on and off since 1976 (Philmont Scout Ranch, NM).

I just recently discovered your forum and got interested in hammock camping. I will be thru-hiking the SHT this summer, and I am looking into making the switch to hammocks (probably forever, am I right?).

I currently have a cheapo Wal-mart hammock and a nylon tarp to experiment with. I suppose there are a few unfortunate folks out there who can't sleep well in a hammock, so I'm going to try it out this summer before getting in too deep. The weight of the hammock and tarp are similar to my smallest backpacking tent, so It's they're not too bad for a beginner. I even found a make-do underquilt I will string up this summer as well.

I hope to learn a lot by "hanging out" here with everyone.
