    Hey everyone,

I'm brand new to this hanging stuff. I don't get out and about near enough...

I'm planning a trip the BWCAW. It's about a million acres of lakes separated by short hikes through the woods. People usually take canoes and lightweight tents. Well, in 2008 I went up there and I had been reading a bit about hammocks...seems like a great way to enjoy those canoe camping trips.

So this go round I started looking them up again, and I found Shug's videos and then this site. So I'm pokin around a bit and trying to learn.

I'm leaning toward a Hennessy Hammock, just because it comes pretty much ready to go with everything I need for a trip into the buggy and rainy BWCA. As I learn, I figure I can start making some modifications and I'm sure I'll need a second hammock before too long...

Anyway, nice place you guys got here, I sure hope this hammock thing turns out as nice as it sounds.

DIY from someone on here. I don't really know much about what I bought, but I'm sure it's real nice. I'm gonna look, dissect and learn from this one.

I just bought a HH UL Explorer zip. Have only tried it in the yard, so far love it, easy to set up, all in one packaging was nice on the wallet. Also hoping to take it to the BWCA eventually (never been), for now I am waiting to get my weekend hiking trip on the SHT.
Let me know how the BWCA goes in the thing, if you get one. Would love to know. No money for an UQ at the moment, so I'd be using sleeping bag and pad and wondering if boundary waters will be too chilly for that.

Welcome from South Carolina. All the information here can be overwhelming at times. So many hammocks and tarps to choose between.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
