    Smile New to hammocks questions

    Hello everyone,

I am brand new to the forum. Never owned a hammock other then a meijer one used in a backyard. I am looking to use hammocks for multiple things.
One thing I'm looking for is for if a friend spends the night. I have a few mats, but I have an occasionally party or 2. Most of them, nobody drives home and just crashes at my place. So is there a good hammock I can use in an apartment? Also, I'm looking for one for camping. I have some property on a lake about 2 hr drive from my current home. There is no cabin on it yet so I sleep in a car or tent currently. I'm location in michigan and the lake is northern ohio. So something that can take that weather.

What is everything I need for an indoor hammock?

If there are posts on here for new people, please point me in that direction with a link or so.

Hanging indoors in an apartment where you can not reinforce the walls for the hammock forces can be difficult without a stand for each. If you own the house you can add some reinforcement to the hang sites. There is at least one thread which deals with indoor hanging.

Hangling the at the lake front is no different than hanging at any wooded setting except you own the property and can decide how you want to use it. There is a multitude of threads which relate to how to hang outdoors.

    Slugg,

    Welcome to the forum...

Just make sure that you have a great bottom insulation plan for outdoor hanging in your part of the country.

also, you will probably need some kind of under insulation even when sleeping inside.

For your guests I reckon it would be good to have a hammock that makes it easy to lie on the diagonal so they can lay flat. You don't need bug-netting for hanging inside, either. (well, mostly!)

I have hung from steel beams inside before, but a while ago someone pulled a door onto their head while hanging from it. You need to pick what you hang from carefully.

A hammock stand inside works well. If you get a collapsible one you can store it out of the way when you don't need it.

Try a test hammock maybe... directions on www.imrisk.com (scroll down for hammock designs)
