    Singer 630

I am looking at a Singer 630 for 75 dollars does anyone have one of these, and does anyone know if this is all steel machine or does it have plastic gear in it.

I have a 648 and yes, these have several plastic gears from the early days of plastic gears and are at an age that makes them prone to breaking. My recommendation is to pass on it unless it is working well and the feed dogs are metal and not rubber coated (the rubber come off now) and you can get it for $0-$10.

Otherwise they were a decent machine in their time...just too much age on critical plastic and rubber parts.

    Agreed with gmcttr.
I have a 1967 603E and it has all metal gears. I believe it is one of the last all metal geared singers.
For 75$ you can do better in my opinion (depending on availability in your area I guess).
    my two cents

Watch craigslist. I got a 50's error singer 15 knockoff for 50 bucks plus the cabinet. It's in great shape.
