    Minimalist DIY CF Tarp

The wind is murder here so thought I'd make a tarp that gets me close to the ground when sleeping there and less sail aloft when hanging from my hammock in asymmetrical mode. It also fits my current obsession with UL gear.

It's made of .74 ounce CF from Zpacks, is 6x9 feet, and weighs 6.9 ounces with two Dutch Stingers, 12.5' of Lash It for ridge suspension on the ends, and (2) 5' guy lines of Spectra from Ultralight Designs.

So did you use tape, sew, or both?

Looks great bud. Hope you were able to take more pics of it deployed in all ways you intend to use it?

I taped it with UHB tape, using some generous re-enforcements, including in the big fat middle where stresses come together from several directions.

Thanks, Yoda. Yes, more pictures when I have more time.

Will do, Refreshing. It's perfect hanging weather, except for the wind storms we've had lately.

Is there a hammock under this tiny tarp?

    Yes, there is!

It's a 10' hammock and I'll probably build an even lighter 9 footer.

Plus, when my rain gear is finished I'll use it for an UQ protector against blowing rain.

Looks great MDSH, with the other implementations you mentioned you should be pretty well covered.

Do you by chance know the ridgeline length of the tarp when positioned above the hammock like you have in the second set of photos?

That's pretty darn good, more than I thought it would be. 10 3/4ft is great coverage, the 9' hammock would give you even better coverage.

I had thought about getting another cuben tarp but could never make my mind up on if I wanted a 9x6 or a 10x6. Although I have "0" funds ATM, so I got some time for that!

Yes, the more I think about that 9 foot UL hammock ...

I've got this roll of 30d MARPAT that needs using.
