    Asym folding

Has anyone tried using something similar to Risk test hammock fold but starting with the material folded on the first fold so that instead of coming to the center, it comes to a point to one side of center (the side where the head or feet will be)? I would then continue to fold to that 'off-center' line with successive folds. I'm thinking of trying this to see if I can get a simple, asym type hammock to tweak, but if someone has already invented this wheel....

    Yes.

Arkwater did that last year. I believe the "articles" section has a write up. results were mixed, IIRC
    found it.

Thanks for the link. It appears it worked well enogh for my needs for now.... and since I plan to do it using the test hammock method, I can untie and retie until I find exactly the right spot for my asym needs. Not sure you fellows have noticed , but girls are built differently than boys.

Here is something I was playing around with. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=156

I think it helped a little bit. In the end I just went with the normal method.

HE, I saw this one earlier -- my concern is your head is almost laying on the edge of the hammock and the she-dino fears falling more than most. What I'm looking at doing if I can make a hammock that will work for me is making he & she hammocks designed to hang side by side from a set of large trees with an oversized hammock-tarp-tent. This should be workable without bug netting and acceptable to the he-dino who likes being enclosed and having his equipment inside with him.

i tried arkwater's off-center asym fold in my HH clone. The fold will give you a flatter bed but it has the tendency to smoother you with the loose fabric on the wide and deeper side. Im claustrophobic and i dont want my face covered with fabric or deep into the hammock bed. I prefer my face to be level or above the netting. I solved this problem by refolding it back to the center. But then its up to your taste if off-center folding suits you.

i wonder how using the trekking pole spreader bar would work w/ that fold?
that would hold the sides out away from you & the pole also causes the sides to set a little lower because of the pole resting on the wide stretched sides.

i think it would work but you have to reinforce the hammock sides with grossgrain or nylon webbing to avoid damage by the poles.

Interesting idea. I will try that when I get the hammock folded. I was kind of busy getting the area under the deck he-dino is building ready to be filled with gravel.

One thing I am wondering is how to fold it with a wide hammock so the edges do not either trap me in or lay in my face?

I know to pull the edges, but it still seams to be one or the either.
