Which BB hammock should I order?
I am 6'4", 225lbs. Should I order the 1.7 single or double layer? Gear weight is very important to me. What is the double layer for? Sleave for a sleeping pad or insulation?
Just another hanger
The double layer is to slide a pad in between for colder temps. I weigh 195 and I have a double layer 1.1 and it works fine for me.
I weigh 215 and just ordered from Brandon. He recommended the double 1.7 because of my weight and because I wanted the double layer for pad purposes. I think a single 1.7 should be able to support your weight. I would just send Brandon a quick email. He is fantastic about responding.
get the double. a warm nights sleep and not fighting the pad are worth the few grams/oz. added. skeeters have a hard time getting thru double layer. that alone is priceless. enjoy your bb whatever way you decide.
Ambulo tua ambulo.

I asked Brandon for a recommendation for me and my friends.
This is what Brandon told me.
RiceGravy 5'9" 200lbs.
RiceGravy could go either dl 1.1 or dl1.7.
dl1.7 will be a little flatter at your weight, but the dl1.1 will be lighter of course.
The flatness would be more noticeable when laying on your side , so the dl1.7 would be more comfy if you turned out to be a side sleeper.
If you just slept on your back, they would probably feel pretty similar.
Micah 6'2" 165lbs.
Micah can have either the single1.7 or the dl1.1
Bryan 6'6" 235lbs.
Bryan will want the dl1.7
I don't know if that will help you at all, but enjoy your BB when you get it!
Depending on the week, you and I are fairly close in weight. The double 1.7 will provide you a flatter lay, no question. But, the single is just fine, even at weights beyond yours. My WB Traveler is a single layer of the same 1.7 and I found it to be extremely comfortable. The mosquito comment is accurate however. If you are using an underquilt it's a moot point, but if you like sleeping without a UQ during these summer temps then you should consider either a double layer or treating your hammock with Permethrin. If it's purely a matter of weight, the single layer will treat you just fine.
