I am trying to make a tarp for my hammock and i dont have a source of sylnylon but do have ripstop do you think that if i coat my ripstop with grangers tent and gear iv waterproofing it will be waterproof? has anyone here used this.

wad it up and stick it under the faucet with your hand inside the wad. if it gets wet now, try the waterproofing. It might shed water already.

I was talking to a friend this past week who was waterproofing a new sail for is boat. I didn't get the name, but it should work for tarps as well. He didn't spend much for it (I think his bottle was less then $20 and covered a sail probably twice the size of my winter tarp). You should be able to find it at a sailing/boat shop.
