If I remember right, they say the finished tarp is actually more like 7'6" to a side, which comes to a ~ 10'7" ridge. I haven't measured mine, though.

Thanks, TD and BB. TeeDee's figures would make it about the same ( an inch or so less) than the 137" stock HH Explorer tarp. and about 5" longer than the MacCat Deluxe. Though if BB is more correct, then a bit shorter.

    BillyBob58, et al,

The JRB 8x8 is actually 10 ft 3 inches on the ridge line.... more than adequate to cover the 100 inch HH models (Exped, BUL, HL, ELR) as well as the smaller models and most basic top loaders.

The key to good coverage is to have to symmetry, and eliminate the weak angle coverage of the Asym flys....Also to provide full side coverage equal to the size of the hammock plus a simple margin for wind and driven rain protection, which the 8x8 does.... The side coverage of the JRB 8x8 and the Mac Cat Standard are almost identical.

I have the same problem with my stock HH Tarp. When you pull it taught on all for sides, there seems to be a few "creases" on the top of the tarp. I still havent figured out how to fix this, but like ShakeyLegs said, most people get the aftermarket tarp, and thats what I plan to do, so I wont try and spend much time to figure it out. If I do figure it out before I get the tarp, Ill tell you right away.
