I'm going to start with an obvious question but hey, I'm an engineer and assume nothing. Have you selected User CP, Edit Options, scrolled down to Miscellaneous Options (bottom), and appropriately modified Turn off ads?
If yes, I'd PM attroll or a moderator to have it fixed.

I never see any ads...
JK... it's just that ads are so modest on HF. Most are in signature lines.

Once a person is a donating member they need to go to their USERCP/EDIT OPTIONS and scroll all the way to the bottom and look for Miscellaneous Options and in the block where it says turn off ads type the following:
off

There was a problem in the database that I just corrected and that couold have been your problem. Please try it again.
When I go to the advertising options it is just a blank line. Not sure what to put in there.

I was skipping the edit options step.
